Among the many things I learned in more than three decades in the fund services industry is what fund sponsors, especially independent investment advisors and sponsors with a limited asset base, are looking for in a service provider.

Everyone else in my position, chief executive of a full service company, had to learn these things as well. Our companies had to provide: hassle free, technologically up to date services, delivered by experienced professionals, people who developed a personal loyalty to your fund and felt a personal stake in its smooth operation.

Actually creating a company that would deliver on these expectations was another matter. Not everyone who tried succeeded. Considering the challenges, that was understandable.

The service company had to be staffed with individuals experienced in many different and complex disciplines. The staff had to be trained to keep its focus always on the individual fund and its specific needs. That focus had to be continually monitored. Excellence could, perhaps, be taken for granted. Consistency of delivery of that excellence could not. Nor could continuity of excellence.

Thinking about the challenges involved in the industry, we at Atlantic can’t do better than to take consistency and continuity as our goals. Working with us, you’ll soon appreciate why.
